2020 Nissan Frontier

What's New For the 2020 Nissan Frontier?

In 2020, the Nissan Frontier mostly gets updates to its mechanical system. Now, a six-cylinder engine replaces the previous two engines offered for the midsize truck. The new engine also comes with a new nine-speed transmission. This new transmission is also a replacement for both transmissions previously offered with the engines in the earlier model years.

The 2020 Frontier also gets a slightly refreshed appearance on the inside with an updated look to the center console in front. A few new features are offered depending on trim level as well, including a push-button start. You can choose from one of two body styles with this year's Frontier, along with a variety of colors. The trim lineup is reduced to four options this year, eliminating the SL from the lineup. The changes to the 2020 Frontier, consumers and critics agree, are enough to hold customers over for the next year until the Frontier is expected to arrive with a redesigned exterior and a refreshed cabin.

What Are the Frontier Trims & Features?

This year, the Nissan Frontier is offered in two body styles. The shorter truck bed is five feet long, while the extended version is 6.1 feet. Since the SL is no longer available, you have a choice of four trims in the 2020 Frontier. The base trim gets several standard features, including an exterior accentuated with 15-inch wheels and prominent headlights. The interior makes for a comfortable, relaxing, and enjoyable ride with features that include rear privacy glass and soft cloth seats. The front seats also have a bucket-style design. Air conditioning enables optimal climate control, while a seven-inch display screen with Bluetooth comes standard.

You'll get a backup camera starting with the base trim as well. You can also choose between a four-speaker and a six-speaker audio system with the base trim. The SV gets a slightly upgraded interior with more standard features and more options. The SV also has a sliding window in the rear and satellite radio. Larger 16-inch alloy wheels are standard on this trim, too. Available features include a sunroof, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and several additional speakers for the extended-length cabs.

A Midnight Edition package is available for the SV with black side steps, side mirror housings, and larger wheels. The Desert Runner gets its unique styling elements, performance-oriented shock absorbers, and special off-road tires. The Pro-4X gets custom-tuned shocks and a display screen with navigation.

Raw Power and Stellar Performance

This year, all editions of the Nissan Frontier are powered by the same engine. The Nissan Frontier comes standard with a newly available engine, which is a 3.8L that has six cylinders for additional power. This engine produces up to 310 HP, which is more powerful than the Frontier's previous engines offered. You have a choice between rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.

The 2020 Nissan Frontier Has a Long List of Safety Features

The Nissan Frontier has a combination of active and passive safety technology. Six airbags, strategically located in the front and sides, are included on all four trims. A backup camera is standard. You also get parking sensors, rollover sensors and Zone Body construction with front and rear crumple zones to keep you safe.
