What's Changed on the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder?

After receiving a dramatic redesign last year, Pathfinder returns with several more changes for 2018. The latest edition of the SUV now offers standard Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) on every trim level, a feature that uses radar technology to detect impending accidents and automatically applies brake pressure if the driver doesn't react in time.

Other security features that are now standard on select trims include Intelligent Cruise Control, which dynamically adjusts speed and distance to vehicles ahead, and the innovative Rear Door Alert system, which reminds drivers to check the backseat for items that may otherwise be forgotten.

In addition, the Midnight Edition package is now offered on the Pathfinder SL (previously only available on the Platinum). The package includes black 20-inch Midnight Edition aluminum-alloy wheels, a black spoiler, black mirror caps and more. The Pathfinder SL is also now standard with NissanConnect with Navigation and Services.

Finally, all models get four additional USB ports, so there are now six total, and two new paint colors debut: Scarlet Ember and Midnight Pine. See the rest of ABC Nissan's 2018 Nissan Pathfinder review to learn more.

Nissan Pathfinder Models & Standard Features

You can find the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder for sale in Phoenix, and four trim levels are available: Pathfinder S, Pathfinder SV, Pathfinder SL and Pathfinder Platinum. All offer three-row seating and accommodate up to seven passengers.

In addition to the new tech mentioned above, standard amenities include an 8-inch touchscreen, backup camera, push-button ignition, remote keyless entry, Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone, tri-zone automatic climate control, power windows and locks, cruise control with steering wheel-mounted controls, two 12-volt power outlets, SiriusXM Travel Link with 3-year complimentary trial access, HD and satellite radio, and speed-sensitive volume control. Nissan's famous EZ FLEX seating system featuring LATCH and Glide is also standard.

Step up to the Pathfinder SV and you'll also get a rear sonar system and remote engine start, among other features. Additonal highlights include a motion-activated liftgate (on SL and up) and climate-controlled front seats with heating and cooling (Platinum).

How Much Horsepower Does the Nissan Pathfinder Offer?

Motor Trend's 2018 Nissan Pathfinder review gives a thumbs up to the SUVs strong V6. All models come outfitted with a 3.5-liter Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) V6 engine that produces 284 horsepower and 259 torque. Max towing capacity for the SUV is a best-in-class 6,000 pounds on properly equipped models. The V6 is paired with an Xtronic automatic transmission with D-Step Logic Control and can send power to your choice of a FWD or AWD drivetrain.

EPA fuel economy ratings for the Pathfinder are 27 highway/20 city mpg with FWD and 26 highway/19 city mpg with AWD.

Safety Features on the Nissan Pathfinder

The 2017 Nissan Pathfinder with optional front crash protection was named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and the 2018 Pathfinder is expected to receive the same honor. The SUV offers lots of standard safety features including Automatic Emergency Braking, the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System, Zone Body construction with front and rear crumple zones, strong pipe-style steel side-door guard beams, hood-buckling creases and much more.
