How Often Should I Service My Nissan Altima?
The Nissan Altima maintenance schedule in your car's owner's manual provides specific guidelines for the vehicle's ongoing care. When service is completed routinely at the recommended Nissan Altima service intervals, both time and wear's potentially damaging effects can be mitigated dramatically. The result may be optimized longevity and minimized repair issues. While this guideline will give you general information about the Nissan Altima's needs, you should rely on the specific recommendations in your car's owner's manual. Those recommendations are tailored for the needs of your Altima's model year and trim level.
10,000 Mile Service
When you bring your Nissan Altima to our service center at the 10,000-mile mark, our technicians will thoroughly inspect numerous systems. All identified issues should be repaired or replaced at this time. The inspection begins with a review of the brake pads, rotors, brake lines, cables, tire air pressure, and tread wear. Other areas that will be inspected and serviced are the drive shaft boots, wipers, drive belts and hoses, horn, battery terminals and cables, intelligent key battery, and others. Altima cars with a continuously variable transmission will need the transmission fluid level replenished. All-wheel drive versions require differential and fluid levels, the propeller shaft, the transfer case oil, and the differential gear oil replenished. Coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, wiper fluid, and engine oil should be replaced. Other services recommended at this time include an oil filter replacement, a battery test, an inspection of the suspension components, and replacements of the in-cabin and engine air filters.
30,000 Mile Service
The next major service recommended for the Nissan Altima is at 30,000 miles. Several parts and systems should be inspected at this time. These include the axle and suspension parts, brake pads and rotors, drive shaft boots, steering gear, linkage, and exhaust system. The brake fluid also should be replaced.
60,000 Mile Service
At 60,000 miles, a few critical maintenance services should be completed. These include a hose inspection and a review of the fuel lines and the fuel tank vapor system.
105,000 Mile Service
When your Nissan is properly cared for, it will continue running well long after the odometer passes the 105,000-mile mark. At this milestone, the engine coolant and the spark plugs need to be replaced.
