Nissan vehicles have been sold in America since 1959, the year the automaker brought over its Datsun line to show it off at the Los Angeles Auto Show. As a Japanese automaker, Nissan took a while to make its way to our country, but many people are glad the brand finally did. It's known for clever, sporty design, reliability, and, most of all, safety. Nissan is also known for keeping their fair pricing.

How It Started, Where It's Going

Nissan's roots can be traced back to 1911. It was that year that Masujiro Hashimoto founded Kwaishinsha Motor Car Works. Just three years later, the DAT car was introduced. It wasn't until 1934, after many name changes, that the name Nissan Co. Ltd. first appeared. The Datsun Model 14 would be the first model out after this critical time in company history.

Nissan's post-war history in the 1940s is one of recovery. The Nissan truck Model 2124 was introduced in 1947, and 1948, Nissan introduced the Datsun Model DB, a passenger car. It's Nissan's history in America, though, that has been most helpful to our customers. Nissan's Datsun 1200 coupes were extremely popular in America and continue to enjoy an excellent reputation among those who owned them.

In the last decade, Nissan has given Americans such fantastic models as the Nissan Pathfinder (SUV), Nissan Frontier (Truck), and the GT-R (sports car). The GT-R has a bit of history of its own. It is a direct descendant of the Nissan Skyline, another popular model from Nissan's past. The brand is known for its love of motorsports and creating vehicles that are fit to be in a Fast and Furious movie. They have over 100 years of innovation behind them and much more. Their first electric vehicle was called the TAMA and came out in 1947. Today, they're more focused on electric vehicles than ever, as the public demand for them is much higher than in 1947. Whatever Nissan sets its mind to in the next 100 years, we know they'll accomplish their goals and reward drivers worldwide.
