The Nissan Altima was introduced in the USA
in 1992 as the 1993 Altima. Its predecessor was the
stylish Nissan Stanza. Today, Altima cars are built
in Nissan's technology laden plants in Smyrna, Tennessee and Canton,
Mississippi. The first generation Altima was originally based on the
Nissan Bluebird, but its design and styling has always been done in
California studios. From the beginning, the Altima, like other Nissan
cars, was fast & sporty. The 1993 Altima contained a
fuel-efficient 4-cylinder engine, and sprinted from 0 to 60 in just 10.4
seconds. The '93 Altima also had a 4-speed manual transmission, and a
tight suspension using struts and stabilizer bars. Though classified as a
compact car, the great-handling early Altima sedan seated four adults
comfortably. The '93 Altima trim levels included the XE, the GXE, the
SE, and the GLE.
The Altima underwent generational transformations in 1998, 2002, and 2007, with a major facelift in 2010. In 2002, fifty automotive journalists at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, named the Nissan Altima as the "North American Car of the Year." Although Nissan never made an Altima convertible, the 2008 Altima Coupe debuted in 2006 at the Los Angeles Auto Show - the first-ever two-door Altima. Always economical, the Altima Hybrid was introduced to ABC Nissan in 2007. Originally based on Toyota's hybrid technology, Nissan's hybrid cars now benefit from the brilliant work of Nissan's power train engineers, generally regarded as the brightest in the world.
Today, ABC Nissan in Phoenix offers the
Nissan Altima for sale in three basic trim levels - the Altima 2.5, the
